“What do homes say about us? What stories are they telling? Are they declarations of integrity, beauty, and heritage? Or do they suggest we have lost our sense of value, craft, and harmony?”
— Excerpt from the front inside cover of Brent Hull’s book, Building a Timeless House in an Instant Age. 2014
Architectural Millwork, applied thoughtfully, provides visual scale, grammar, and hierarchy to the home.
Interior & Exterior Carpentry
At Cypress Construction LLC, we want to be more than a trim or finish contractor. We want to be included in the design process, as part of a team, or standalone, to help select the appropriate architectural order to develop a proportioning system that makes a house a home.
What separates us is a study in Classicism, Cottage, Cabin, Gothic, and other common architectural styles that inform the uniquely American styles we see today. Such styles didn’t happen by accident; they were the intersection of Function, Form, and Compromise.
What makes us different?

Modern day products can have some great characteristics; however, all-to-often we try to apply modern products to solve old problems where traditional techniques would suffice. One common example is the errant application of caulk and sealant. Caulking can trap as much water as it attempts to seal. Therefore, it’s best to provide tried and true methods of water diversion such as drip edges, caps, and grooves to break capillarity, which is a common cause of sheathing failures.
As homes get tighter, it’s more important than ever to practice traditional methods of water management, including sloped sills, properly executed friezes, and other water management practices. -
Our founder was trained as a cabinet maker, worked as a finish carpenter, and has experience building moldings from rough sawn boards. We’ve designed custom moldings from a designers sketch, and made them a reality.
Over the years we’ve developed experience in casework, millwork, plaster moldings, finishing (paint, stains, clear finishes), and so much more.

A home is a canvas, and it also has order. Should the under-stair half bath have the same trim package as the dining room? Would you pick the same style in the study as you would in the kitchen? Probably not.
Moldings are an excellent way to express one’s taste and personality, and we can help you decide where and how to do it!
Developing hierarchy means we ensure that the right rooms make the statement, while the closets may say the least, but are never ignored.
